CAM DESIGN FOR PEANUT BRITTLE FLIPPER

What i did

Designed and prototyped a flipper mechanism to continuously flip pieces of peanut brittle 180 degrees during the cooling process. Project included the analysis of various flipping techniques, mechanisms, and production-level machines. Final design was a crank-slider driven wheel with a conveyor on either side.

Features

  • Must flip and return to original position within ½ second

  • Must have ¾ second dwell for loading

  • Cycles per day: ~45,000

  • Must adhere to FDA, HACCP, NSF, and ANSI 2 requirements and standards

  • Brittle must not fall off or stick to spatula

  • No backups of product on conveyor

  • Linkage solution with motorized input
